The new Ambulatory Health Hub (AHH) will be located on Stavanger Drive, St John?s East. The AHH is approximately 95,000 square feet and will house NLHS Clinic and Diagnostic Services including Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Ophthalmology, Audiology, TJAC, Bariatric, Preadmission, Pain, ECG, ECHO, Xray, Ultrasound, MRI and Blood Collection. This location will also house other NLHS Services (like the new Urgent Care Centre) as well as non- NLHS services (including a coffee shop, day care centre, community pharmacy etc.). NLHS staff will be given priority for available childcare spaces. There is free parking on site with designated area for staff parking. The AHH will be opening in Fall 2025.

Job Summary
This Clinical Physiotherapist II position plays a key leadership role in the Ambulatory Care Program. In collaboration with the PT III, the PT II is responsible for overseeing caseload management, mentorship, sharing clinical expertise internal to and external to Physiotherapy Services, as well as oversight and supervision of clerical staff.

This position is responsible for providing specialty physiotherapy assessment, interventions, consultation and education with acute and chronic patients with musculoskeletal issues. The patient population includes a wide variety of problems including acute and chronic soft tissue injuries, total joint replacements, breast cancer surgery, head/neck cancer surgical dissections, degenerative musculoskeletal disorders, rheumatological disorders, acute and chronic spinal problems, post-fracture and orthopedic surgeries and general mobility issues of an orthopedic nature. Supervision and delegation to Physiotherapy Support Workers is an expectation. The PT will be responsible to precept physiotherapy students/rehabilitation assistant students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within NL Health Services. This position also participates in the orthopedic weekend coverage model (rotating weekends).

In collaboration with the PTIII, the incumbent is responsible for consulting and advising physiotherapy staff and other team members in the area of clinical expertise; teaching advanced assessment and treatment techniques to staff; development of patient care programs in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team; orientation and evaluation of staff; and participation in program evaluation and quality initiative activities.

This position reports to the Division Manager of Ambulatory Care, receives clinical mentorship from the Clinical Practice Leader (PT III) Musculoskeletal and maintains accountability to the Physiotherapy Professional Practice Consultant for professional integrity and professional practice issues.

Time pressures and interruptions are experienced with little control over work pace.
Higher than normal levels of attentiveness/alertness is required when performing activities for the plastic surgery client with complex issues/medical conditions.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of Physiotherapy is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP) is required.
A minimum of three years experience within the last five working as a Clinical Physiotherapist working with an adult orthopedic outpatient population is required.
Successful completion of a post entry education course in Orthopedic Level II ? Upper and Lower Quadrant (or equivalent as determined by NL Health Services) is required.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in both a one-on-one and/or group environment.
Effectively translated and communicated knowledge in the specialized area of physiotherapy practice to others.
Possessed proven leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, coaching, mentorship and training to physiotherapists, physiotherapy support workers and students.
Ability to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required
