The town of Rothesay is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as Building Inspector. Reporting to the Director of Planning and Development Services, the Building Inspector is responsible for the enforcement of the National Building Code of Canada, relevant municipal by-laws, and applicable provincial legislation.
Duties include but are not limited to, conducting field inspections of residential and commercial buildings during various stages of construction, renovation and demolition, investigating complaints and reports of non-compliance, reviewing and approving building permit applications and responding to inquiries, complaints and request for information in a timely manner.
Qualifications for this position include post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., construction, engineering architecture, or building inspection), certification or eligibility for certification with the New Brunswick Building Officials Association (NBBOA) and a valid Class 5 driver's license. Completion of Building Code courses Part 3 and Part 9 is preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
