The Role

As a result of our robust growth, we are adding a Welder/Mechanic Helper to our team of professionals. Reporting to the Marine Maintenance Shop Supervisor, this position will be responsible for:

• Welding steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, blue prints, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions
• Operating hand power tools, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the jobs needs
• Inspecting and correcting welds as necessary to meet product specifications
• Reading, understanding, and following job order specifications or work orders
• Inspecting equipment to maintain functional equipment and reporting repair requirements to management

You must be comfortable working with fitters or fitters/welders to assist in the fabrication or welding of multi-component parts.

A successful candidate will:

• Be familiar with a variety of welder concepts, practices, and procedures
• Be able to understand welding symbols and diagrams, read blueprints, and/or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts
• Be thoroughly familiar with welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, filler rods, flux, hoses, valves, and gas cylinders
