Purpose of Job
The Senior Manager of Credit Risk Audit contributes to the Bank's profitability by conducting data analyses to assess credit lifecycle strategies to ensure adherence to internal Bank policies & regulatory obligations, making recommendations to management to strengthen controls to mitigate risk.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversees the execution, planning, and reporting of assigned audits
- Prepares and reviews audit findings for presentation to management. Follows up for corrective actions against any reported issues
- Leads data analyses and reviews of policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory expectations, and risk management frameworks. Generates recommendations to remediate gaps and strengthen controls
- Leverages data management tools such as SAS/Python/SQL to analyze retail portfolios to ensure accounts conform to established risk appetite and policies
- Reviews credit risk origination, account management, and collection strategies, policies, & processes to ensure these meet Bank and regulatory policies
- Leverages data analytics to enhance audit testing, identify emerging risks, and provide deeper insights into credit risk trends and control effectiveness
- Summarizes findings and presents recommendations to Audit executives
- Develops and delivers clear, concise reporting to senior management and stakeholders, summarizing audit findings, issue status, and risk themes across the retail credit portfolio
- Validates audit issue closure materials. Reviews business lines' remediation efforts and supporting evidence to confirm effective resolution of identified control gaps
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams including Compliance, Risk, and Business Lines to stay informed on regulatory changes, business initiatives, and their impact on the control environment
Required Experience & Education
- 3 - 5 years of experience in retail credit risk management developing life-cycle (originations, account management, or collections) strategies & policies and/or commensurable experience in audit
- Demonstrated capabilities in data analytics, credit risk modeling techniques and analytical tools (SAS, SQL, Python, R, Alteryx)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to collaborate with teams and management at various levels. Experience in writing and presenting data analytics/MIS results
- Exceptional organization skills to prioritize, manage, and implement a variety of competing initiatives, on a concurrent or staggered basis
- Results driven individual with high level of curiosity and ability to dive into details without losing sight of the big picture
- Prior experience with provisioning or SOX controls (IFRS9) is an asset
- University or post secondary degree in economics, finance, mathematics, or computer science
