Site Description:

Working on assigned shifts, you will work part time providing proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents. You will be required to write reports, investigate routine incidents and respond to emergencies quickly and efficiently. You will be expected to perform regular patrols and interact with clients and tenants to provide direction and promote good customer service while providing a security presence.

In this role, it is essential that you are physically fit, able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Position Details:

Position: Temporary Part Time

Site: Elgin Centre

Site Address: 417 Wellington Street, St. Thomas, ON N5R 5J5

Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement – calculating after 88 hours bi-weekly

Hours: Saturday, Sunday and Statutory Holidays 1700-0100hrs (end time may vary)

Payrate: $18.59/hour

Posting Date: June 24, 2025

Internal Closing Date: July 1, 2025

External Closing Date: July 22, 2025


Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor and patrol the premises to ensure safety and security.
  • Perform regular security checks of the property, including parking areas, entrances, exits, and other designated areas.
  • Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized access or unlawful activities.
  • Control access at entry points and ensure only authorized personnel enter the premises.
  • Respond to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies and take appropriate actions as needed.
  • Assist in the enforcement of company policies and procedures, including monitoring and reporting any suspicious activities.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or security breaches promptly to the management team.
  • Complete daily logs and security reports, documenting any unusual occurrences.
  • Provide assistance to employees, visitors, and vendors as needed.
  • Cooperate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other authorities when necessary.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
