We are currently looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our Joint Strategic Procurement team in a full time position. Reporting to a Strategic Sourcing and Operations Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of category management plans on behalf of NS Power and NB Power (referred as the Companies).
Key elements of this role include:
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives by providing critical analytical support to the Strategic Sourcing Managers.
- Leverage all available data sources (accounting, purchasing, payments systems, suppliers, market trends, tariffs, etc.)
- Ensure stakeholder participation, alignment and support to strategic sourcing goals and objectives, support the development and execution of category management plans on behalf of the Companies.
- Lead or assist Strategic Sourcing Manager in the design and development of RFP's, contract negotiations, supplier contract savings calculations, total cost of ownership evaluations and business case development, category management and supplier relationship management.
- Ensure all related governance processes/policies are adhered to and completed prior to final approval to ensure the acquisition is done in the best interest of the Companies.

- Lead or assist the Strategic Sourcing Managers in the analysis of potential inclusion of other utilities in the category management plans.
These skills will make you successful:
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of 3 years of progressive procurement, supply chain, contract development/ management, operations or construction management experience.
- An equivalent combination of business experience and education may also be considered.
- Certification as a Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Supply Manager (CSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), and/or Certified Production & Inventory Manager (CPIM) is desirable.
- A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
- Experience in technical buying, ideally within engineered services, construction services, utility materials or other electric utility goods would be considered an asset as is the ability to generally understand technical specifications and / or the operational aspects of assigned categories.
- A team player, customer-focused, with strong communication skills and a natural relationship builder, you are also results driven and possess great attention to detail.
- Advanced competencies in MS-Office tools, in particular Excel is required. Analytics capabilities within Excel and/or business intelligence platforms like Tableau would be considered an asset.
