Job Summary
This position will report to the Director of Health Information Services and Informatics. This position will have regional responsibility and a leadership role for Records, Retention and Processing. This role will involve strategic planning, policy development, team leadership, cross continuum integration and project management. Operational management in sites on the Burin Peninsulas will be a component of this position. The successful applicant will require data management skills, knowledge of and experience with the information technologies used with health information. Familiarity in the use of information and office automation tools is essential.

Job Qualifications
Education
A Baccalaureate degree in Health Informatics/Health Information Management, Business Administration or a health-related degree from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution is required.

Experience
Minimum of five years' experience within the last seven in health information management or heath information is required.
Experience in project/change management initiatives, and in the use of Meditech and other electronic health systems.
Combination of experience and education would be considered
Progressive leadership experience is required.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
A dynamic leadership style focused on:
Knowledge of informatics and its role in enhancing patient/client/resident safety.
Knowledge of applicable legislation that affects health records management such as the Hospital Act, Personal Health Information Act, Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Adoptions Act.
Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills, and be able to function effectively in a high pressure, diverse and changing environment.
Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated exceptional analytic, and strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated conflict management skills.
Ability to lead and support strategic planning in a large organization.

Other
Current and continuing certification as an accredited Health Information Management Professional from the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
Eligibility for membership in the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Information Management Association (NLHIMA) is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
