What you will be doing…
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, with an emphasis on energy and sustainability, you will:
- Ensure that the general building custodial duties are carried out according to established NSCC standards and guidelines.
- Provide day-to-day direction and oversight of all duties applicable to facilities staff.
- Perform periodic inspections.
- Operate snow removal and grounds keeping tools and equipment.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of the campus.
- Maintain a customer service-orientated relationship with the users of the facilities and perform other tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager or designate.
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a high school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED) or willingness to attain a high school diploma or GED within the probationary period. Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations would be considered an asset, as would Standard First Aid and CPR. Ladder training and/or Fall Protection training would also be considered an asset.
- You have a minimum of two years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related experience as a cleaner (including the operation of waxing and polishing machines and automatic scrubbers) with a minimum of two years (full-time equivalent) of recent and progressive supervisory experience.
- Occupational experience that includes working in one or more of the trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical) would be considered an asset.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, Megamation.
- You have demonstrated experience providing maintenance duties.
- Possession of a valid Nova Scotia Driver's Licence is a bona fide relevant occupational requirement for this position.
