We are looking for an Asset Management Engineer within Enterprise Asset Management's Risk & Reliability Team. Reporting to the Manager, Asset Performance, you will play a key role in establishing, managing, and maintaining the asset performance data and key inputs to risk profiles for generation assets throughout Nova Scotia Power's fleet.
You will provide support to power production and asset management teams for long-term investment planning, generation equipment reporting, and Nova Scotia Power's Fuel Adjustment Mechanism. This role is dynamic, and the successful candidate will be expected to identify opportunities for and lead process improvements, including automation.
Key elements of this role include:
- Generation Equipment Reliability tracking for all Power Production facilities through regular engagement with operations staff to document root cause of outage events or equipment derates;
- Technical lead for GE's Asset Performance Management module for Generation Availability Analysis (GAA) reporting.
- Generation equipment performance analysis and monthly reliability reporting using tools such as Excel, Power BI, and Tableau;
- Monitoring compliance with preventative maintenance plans, and identifying opportunities for maintenance strategy optimizations; and
- Compilation of monthly Hydro generation production reporting.
- You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:
- You have an engineering degree and are either a member or eligible for membership with Engineers Nova Scotia.
- You have a minimum of 5 years' experience in plant maintenance, reliability, and/or asset management roles. We may consider an equivalent combination of education and utility experience.
- You have experience using a computerized maintenance management system and are proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- You have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proven ability to problem solve.
- You are familiar with Plant Maintenance, Plant Operations, or Power Production Engineering, and have exceptional facilitation skills with a strong customer focus.
- Experience with tools such as DirectLine, Maximo, GE APM, Power BI, Tableau, and/or performance analytics is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Electricity Canada and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) reporting standards would also be a benefit.
- You have demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience building partnerships across and between functional groups.
- You have a self-starting, energetic approach, and strong planning and organizational skills. You can prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently while contributing as a team player.
