Facility Description:

For over 50 years, Ocean View has been dedicated to our mission to provide person-directed care with compassion and grace. We work to enhance the lives of those we serve, ensuring a supportive environment for our 171 residents.

The quality of life for residents of Ocean View is enhanced through the commitment of a dedicated group of volunteers. We have a long history of strong community support and welcome the involvement of adult and teen volunteers each year. Our summer "VolunTEEN" program provides an opportunity for young people (ages 13 to 18) to interact with residents of Ocean View. Teens are also welcome and encouraged to volunteer year-round!

Opportunities:

• Recreation: Supporting residents in attending activities such as bingo, music, outings, special events, etc.
• Cafe: Assisting with sales, replenishing shelves, chat with residents, family, and staff
• Gardening: Helping with indoor and outdoor plant/flower upkeep
• Friendly Visiting: Visiting and spending time with Residents, walks, reading, playing cards, etc.
• Spiritual Care: Providing encouragement and portering support to church services and weekly hymn sing.

Qualifications:

• 13-18 yrs of age with parental/ guardian consent
• Friendly and respectful toward seniors
• Patient and attentive listener
• Comfortable initiating conversation
• Responsible and reliable
• Willing to follow rules and take direction
• Open to working in a team and independently
