Position Overview: The purpose of this position is to provide effective leadership and support to Agile Scrum IT Teams, continuously delivering multiple solutions for our internal Business Partners. This role combines the standard responsibilities of a Scrum Master along with Business Analysis needs. The role will leverage our standardized THD-IT Canada Agile Methodology (based on Scaled Agile and Scrum best practices) and will be provided extensive training and support from our DMO Group.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate Scrum Events:
Ensure that all Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Review/Demo, and Sprint Retrospective, Backlog Refinements) are held and adhere to the timebox.
Team Support:
Protect the team from external interruptions and distractions to ensure they remain focused on their sprint goals.
Foster and support whole team quality and help the team by identifying and removing obstacles that hinder their progress.
Create an environment where the team feels safe to take risks, make mistakes, and learn.
Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the team and strive to keep the team(s) motivated and engaged by providing servant leadership consistent with THD values as well as encouraging open and honest communication and feedback.
Observe and understand factors that impact team performance and Velocity with the goal of continuously improving and applying learnings to future sprints.
Promote Collaboration:
Support and facilitate interaction within the team and with key members from other IT Teams such as Change Management, Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, DBAs, and Offshore Support Team Members.
Facilitate collaborative group workshops and problem-solving sessions.
Partners with stakeholders to build project plans that support strategic growth and drive incremental progress.
Creates and leads presentations with stakeholders to share project wins, analysis results and to gain alignment on future opportunities.
Collaborates with stakeholders and cross-functional partners to finalise the scope of work, manage project timelines & requirement changes.
Product presentations, store visits & timeline communication will all stakeholders throughout the project's lifecycle.
Builds system knowledge and expertise through ongoing tailored, training classes.
Coach the Team:
Participate in THD agile community meetups to contribute and learn about potential improvements to our agile best practices and delivery approach and ensure that the team follows Scrum practices and principles.
Help the team to understand the theory, practices, rules, and values of the Scrum framework.
Support Stakeholders:
Collaborate with Business Product Owners and IT Delivery Managers to ensure each sprint delivers valuable software.
Assist in managing the product backlog, prioritising the backlog items, and facilitate effective communication between the Product Owner and the team.
Map out all relevant stakeholders and categorize them based on their roles and influence.
Conduct interviews, surveys, working sessions to align project goals with stakeholder expectations.
Create tailored communication plans to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
Establish and maintain positive relationships through effective communication and collaboration.
Continuously gather feedback and adapt engagement strategies to meet stakeholder needs and expectations.
Metrics and Reporting:
Report on key metrics such as progress, velocity, risks, and issues to ensure stakeholders and the Agile DMO Group have clear visibility.
Identify and present the most relevant metrics for Business and IT stakeholders to support their decision-making processes.
Skills:
Expert knowledge of the Agile Principles, Kanban, and Scrum framework.
Advanced proficiency in Business Analysis tools and techniques.
Utilize SQL to extract, manipulate, integrate, and analyze large datasets.
Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all analytics and reporting.
Analyze and interpret complex data to provide actionable insights that support business objectives.
Strong servant leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and negotiation skills.
Organizational skills & Facilitation skills.
Minimum Years of Work Experience:
2 – 5 years of experience as a Certified Scrum Master and or as a Certified Business Analyst, or internal Home Depot Technology experience.
Certifications:
Certified Scrum Master (CSM).
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar certification.
Other Requirements/Assets:
Proficiency in SQL for querying databases, extracting, and manipulating data.
Experience with Big Query for large-scale data processing and analysis.
Knowledgeable in JIRA, Confluence, other scrum tools and techniques.
Previous leadership and/or project management experience.

Minimum Education:
A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
