Apple Valley Foods Inc. is one of the largest pie producers in Canada. Our top selling pies contain apples that are sourced predominately from Annapolis Valley, and from Ontario. Apples are peeled, cored, and sliced on site as needed for production. Our crust is made with the finest Canadian wheat flour. Nothing could be fresher! Blueberry pies boast wild Nova Scotia berries. All fillings are made from scratch utilizing only grade A fruit.

Due to continued growth we are looking for a Stationary Engineer and Refrigeration Operator at Apple Valley Foods Inc.who would be responsible for operating and maintaining the smooth functioning of plant refrigeration systems to efficiently preserve the quality and freshness of our pies while ensuring all safety standards are met.

Job Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate maintenance activities of trade contractors
• Complete and maintain station records, logs and reports
• Read electrical schematics, blueprints and other technical diagrams
• Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunction
• Assist during routine systems testing
• Assist in locating and isolating system problems
• Assist in the development of operation, maintenance and safety procedures
• Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment
• Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair
• Maintain daily log of operation, maintenance and safety activities
• Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally
• Operate automated or computerized control systems
• Perform routine equipment maintenance
• Start up and shut down power plant equipment
• Write plant or building operation reports
• Adhere to all Apple Valley Foods Inc. Health and Safety, Food Safety, and fire prevention regulations and practices
• Perform other duties as required
