DEVELOPMENT & DONOR RELATIONS

Development and Donor Relations (DDR) is a unit within the University's Advancement portfolio, responsible for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of private donations made to UNB.

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time | Continuing | Fredericton Location | On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:45 am - 4:00 pm | 36.25 hours per week (Summer Hours)

Salary Range: $76,626 - $104,433 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Executive Director, Development & Donor Relations, the Development Officer manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors and develops strategies to support the full gift cycle from prospect identification, through cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship.

  • Manage a portfolio of 100-200 prospective donors.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual, major, and planned gift donors and prospects.
  • Connect with individuals, corporations, and/or foundations, through visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets.
  • Contribute to volunteer engagement efforts to maximize the volunteer experience, including the fundraising campaign cabinet members.
  • Implement day-to-day development strategies and activities to ensure their integration into the University's overall development program.
  • Coordinate and lead short and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement annual campaign fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Plan and conduct programs and activities designed to increase the visibility of UNB to internal & external constituencies.
  • Research, write, edit, and/or oversee the preparation of persuasive and accurate solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials.
  • Collaborate with advancement colleagues, deans, and volunteers to develop and implement strategies to secure financial support for approved fundraising initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with UNB faculty and staff, development colleagues, and appropriate board members to maximize the University's total gift revenue, strategic University leadership travel and visit schedule, and solicitation efforts.
  • Effectively use the University's prospect management database and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni, and volunteers in coordination with University objectives.
  • Leverage research on identified prospects to create strategies to match prospects' interests to University fundraising priorities

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A University Degree in Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in fundraising or a significant background in a related professional field which may include client/business development, sales or marketing.

  • Ability to secure major grants and gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other private funding sources.
  • Ability to plan and implement long and short-range development initiatives in conjunction with strategic planning processes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate, and timely reports and other documents to support development objectives.
  • Strong database management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience in managing events and other complex activities in support of development objectives.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
  • Community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.
  • Ability to travel within North America.
  • Current driver's license
