The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist, Technical Marketing to join our Commercial team in Toronto.

This is a permanent hybrid position.

As a Senior Specialist, Technical Marketing you will capture, analyze and generate short-term and long-term base metal price forecasts leveraging market insights, supply demand balances and other core factors that impact and influence market prices. Exploring / testing and utilizing various forecast methodologies to improve forecast accuracy and ability to build various pricing scenarios. Your experience and skill will allow you to monitor and provide competitive analysis and supply insights on all commodities Vale Base Metals is engaged in (nickel, copper, cobalt, PM, PGMs).

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Develop detailed financial modelling to support the long-term price forecast, defining incentive price for key industries and markets
  • Utilize historical cost data, industry insights, and market trends to build cost curves and forecast long-term price movements for base metals
  • Generate regular reports and presentations on industry trends, competitive intelligence, and long-term price forecasting for management and key stakeholders, being able to articulate recommendations and findings
  • Identify, evaluate and summarize key aspects of processes and related costs associated with; mineralogy and geology; mining operations; ore processing and refining; metallurgy; chemical analysis; process control and automation; environmental and regulatory compliance

About You

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering or related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a similar position.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of marketing, sales & finance fundamentals.
  • Solid knowledge of the end-uses/products served by Vale Base Metals
  • Strategic thinking & leadership
