As a member of a Core Fixed Income team at 1832 Asset Management L.P., the Portfolio Analyst, Fixed Income is responsible for supporting the team's investment and decision-making process. As the Portfolio Analyst, Fixed Income, you will will work closely with a team of Portfolio Managers and Analysts in support of their mandates, with primary responsibilities that encompass portfolio analysis, trading, and reporting
In this role, you will:
Portfolio Analytics:
• Maintain and enhance portfolio analytics models and portfolio positioning reporting.
• Work with PMs to improve portfolio reporting and scenario analysis.
• Maintain close relationships with key trading partners and provide PMs with market intelligence.
• Participate in general portfolio positioning and market discussions, both internally and with external counterparties.
• Work with other internal departments, such as Portfolio Administration, Risk, Performance and Compliance.
Trading:
• Trade execution based on PM instructions.
• Relative value trade idea generation and execution.
• Hedging using cash bonds and futures.
• Rebalancing of Fixed Income and Balanced mandates.
• Identify and propose security crossed among various mandates to align security holdings with targets.
• Cashflow monitoring.
• Provide backup coverage for Money Market mandates.
Reporting:
• Generate daily, weekly, monthly and periodic reports including portfolio exposure monitoring, cash
positioning, market valuation, currency positioning, performance attribution and macroeconomic data
tracking.
• Ensure accurate reporting.
• Work to improve the quality and efficiency of the team's reporting
Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We'd love to work with you if have:
• Completion of a University degree in a related field of study (Commerce, Economics, etc.)
• CFA, completed or in progress, would be considered an asset
• Familiarity with fixed income and money market, with a minimum 3-4 years of industry relevant experience
• Experience trading money market and fixed income would be considered an asset.
• The Candidate will be encouraged to pursue a Futures license, if not already acquired
• Strong systems knowledge, including Bloomberg and other trading systems, Charles River, etc.
• Strong system skills, specifically with including Excel and broadly, the ability to create process solutions in
collaboration with IT support
• Proficiency in programing languages (VBA and/or Python), along with a solid understanding of general
coding logic and principles, would be considered an asset.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy in very fast paced environment
• Proven ability to cope with stress and multiple deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
• Desire to work as part of a team
