Job Description:

TD Securities (TDS) Finance is responsible for developing and delivering financial strategy, information, and management support on a segment-wide basis for TDS, consistent with TD's enterprise risk appetite.

The TD Securities Capital Reporting Group, within TDS Finance, is responsible for Wholesale Banking regulatory reporting under the Basel III framework for OSFI reporting, financial statement disclosures, management reporting, forecasting, and allocation of capital for business line performance measurement, in particular return on equity. Additionally, the group leads key initiatives relating to capital optimization, capital usage, as well as streamlining of processes and improvements in infrastructure in conjunction with diverse business partners, including partners in accounting, chief's financial and regulatory reporting, data governance, front office, risk management, technology, and other groups in TD. The Capital Reporting Group's activities are pivotal as the group processes a vast quantity of data and the information output from such data is used for regulatory reporting and relied upon by numerous stakeholders in the bank.

The team plays an important strategic role for TDS, ensuring that the right metrics are developed and communicated to the businesses to make decisions amid the continuously evolving market environment and regulatory requirements.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF INTERN

INTERN RESPOSIBILITIES:

The candidate will also participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives relating to new and existing guidelines, support process improvements/automation, and coordinate training presentations that are performed monthly within the team

  • Participate in initiatives to identify and implement process improvements and capital optimization strategies.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of various technological tools (ie. Alteryx, SQL, Access databases, Excel files, Tableau).

The position's core responsibility will be supporting the monthly and quarterly processes for management reporting and regulatory reporting of capital and leverage for TD Securities.

  • Build and foster a positive working relationship with business partners and capital stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment that encourages learning, productivity, professionalism and teamwork.
  • Report capital results to stakeholders. This includes preparing a variety of reports, schedules, variance analyses, and commentaries catered to the intended audience/recipient.
  • Synthesizing and interpreting large quantities of data from diverse sources, and processing data into accurate, complete, and meaningful information for reporting purposes and/or to inform key business stakeholders.
  • Grasping complex regulatory standards, and correctly applying them across the range of TD Securities' financial assets in calculating capital.

REQUIREMENTS

Program requirements

  • Programs: Relevant post-secondary program focused on Finance, Accounting, Risk, or Commerce
  • Year of Study: 3rd or 4th year

Technical / Soft skills requirements

  • Using computer tools for data retrieval and analysis, in particular Excel, SQL and PowerPoint
  • Record of achievement, high academic results and demonstrated leadership with community involvement
  • Quick to learn and apply new concepts
  • Ability to take initiative and balance multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated strong analytical abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
