The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team to provide a high standard of care to the patients of the John M. Grey Long Term Care. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the LG Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager
Qualifications:
? Graduation from high school or equivalency
? Graduation from an approved LPN Educational program.
? Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador
(CLPNNL)
? Successful completion of Breastfeeding Essentials or willingness to complete (within timeframe
designated by Employer)
? Knowledge of computer skills and an ability to work with computer programs is an asset;
? Completion of the Health Assessment Course.
? Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR)
? Completion of Gentle Persuasive Approach Course (GPA) or willingness to complete
? Completion of, or willing to complete MOAB training.
? The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct and
vulnerable sector check
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
? Completes nursing assessment consistent with LPN scope of practice
? Participates in the development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans
? Provides safe, competent, and ethical nursing care and make decisions within the LPN scope of
practice
? Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient plan of care
? Practices independently according to professional and organizational standards
? Documents according to professional and organizational standards
? Maintains competency and updates knowledge by availing of educational opportunities
? Participates in quality assurance/improvement activities
? Represents nursing on various committees such as Nursing Unit Council and other committees
as deemed necessary
? Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team
? Keeps current with changes by monitoring communications (i.e. verbal, e-mail, communication
book etc.
? Administers medication
? Provide support to Acute Care as Required
? Other related duties as required.
