Responsabilités

What you will be doing…

The Senior Manager, Contracts & Grants Services provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight for NSCC's Shared Services Centre within Research, Innovation & Workforce Development (RIWD). This position leads the optimization of administrative, financial, and operational support services, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and seamless integration across RIWD units.

The Senior Manager collaborates with internal stakeholders across NSCC departments and external partners, including funding agencies, industry leaders, and government bodies, to drive best-in-class shared services that support research, innovation, and workforce development initiatives.

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President of Research, Innovation, and Workforce Development, the Senior Manager will oversee financial management, HR, procurement, and research support to enhance efficiency, eliminate redundancies, and strengthen regulatory compliance. The role also includes overseeing financial services, contract negotiation, policy compliance, grant administration, and industry engagement, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives while optimizing resources.

The Shared Services Centre at NSCC is designed to deliver a dynamic, agile, and responsive service model, fostering innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strategic partnerships. The Senior Manager will ensure that SSC services effectively integrate with NSCC's broader institutional framework.

Serving as a key liaison, the Senior Manager will build and maintain relationships with NSCC leadership, government agencies, and funding partners, facilitating engagement across business units, schools, and campuses. Success in this role requires strong collaboration and cross-functional coordination, ensuring that operational services are fully aligned with institutional priorities while supporting NSCC's mission and strategic goals.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in business administration, finance, public administration, law, economics, or a related field. An MBA, MPA, or a Master's degree in a relevant field would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of seven (7) years of recent and related occupational experience in strategic operations, research administration, financial management, or post-secondary administration.
  • You possess recent experience in a leadership role ideally in a large, complex organization.
  • You have broad general knowledge of stakeholder engagement and partnership development within government, industry, academia, and funding agencies.
  • Proven expertise in managing complex, multi-million-dollar budgets, cost-sharing frameworks, and financial reporting systems.
  • Strong track record in contract negotiation, policy development, and regulatory compliance within a large organization.
  • You possess demonstrated knowledge of human resources management principles with the ability to create an engaging and inclusive and effective working environment for employees through hiring, orientation, development, and mentorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale transformation initiatives, process optimization, and organizational change management.
  • You have a proven track record of leadership by effectively managing and inspiring staff
  • Experience managing physical and financial resources to ensure effective service delivery.
  • High proficiency in digital environments and financial reporting systems, including COGNOS, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies that drive efficiency, enhance service delivery, and align with institutional objectives.
  • Proven ability to quickly establish effective and credible relationships, both internally and externally, is also essential in this role.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated creativity in idea generation and solution implementation.

  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities to track awards, budgets, contracts, and deliverables across a breadth of activities
  • You have strong project management skills lead teams through process improvement, change management, and strategic initiatives.
