The Pond-Deshpande Centre (PDC) at UNB supports social entrepreneurship and innovation in New Brunswick and beyond. We believe that by combining innovative ideas with deep, relevant, contextual knowledge, citizens will be able to develop sustainable solutions to complex social, environmental, and economic challenges while creating high-impact ventures that "do well & do good" in our region and the world. PDC has two key platforms: NouVentures which focuses on growing social entrepreneurship in New Brunswick and beyond; and NouLAB which houses PDC's social innovation lab and manages our social and public innovation work generally.

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time | 1-Year Term | Fredericton Campus| Hybrid or On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:45 am - 4:00 pm | 36.25 hours per week (Summer Hours)

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Ability to travel within New Brunswick to support our various projects and events.
  • Able to travel between campuses (Fredericton/Saint John).

Salary Range: $50,532 - $65,688 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications & Events Officer will play a leading role in shaping and executing PDC's communication and event strategies to help achieve our mission of being New Brunswick's social innovation organization.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with project goals and the strategic plan.
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee all communications initiatives.
  • Lead the storytelling of the impact our work is having, while also raising the profile of organizations we work with and solutions we have developed.
  • Plan & execute a variety of stakeholder events, including conferences, webinars, program launches, network gatherings and project convenings.
  • Produce high quality written and visual content, including social media graphics, articles, newsletters, etc.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key media contacts.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public relations or a related field.
  • 2 - 4 years experience in communications, public relations, and event management.

Additional Strengths:

  • Strong project management skills.
  • Creative thinking and ability to generate innovative ideas.
  • Proficiency in multiple social media platforms.
  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Able to craft written materials and manage marketing collateral.
  • Able to weave content into a storytelling experience through various media and channels.
  • Adept at analyzing data and deriving actionable insights.
