Reporting to the Director, Security and Emergency Management the Physical Security Manager, is responsible for protecting the organization from physical threats and ensuring the safety of the people, assets and facilities of the NSLC. This role is responsible to design, implement and maintain the physical security, fire and life safety and emergency response programs. The position will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide direction regarding physical security standards and practices, fire safety and emergency response planning.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Physical Security programs, projects, and assets
o Continuously identify and assess risks to the organization, develop strategies, plans and actions to mitigate the impact of those risks
o Manage risk-based physical security standards to guide maintenance, renovations, and network development projects
o Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure physical security standards are applied and support Corporate goals
o Manage the maintenance and development of physical security assets through proactive, cost-effective, and risk-effective methods
- Fire Safety
o Manage fire safety planning, implementation and regular testing to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
o Oversee the development and delivery of fire safety training to NSLC Staff
o Support the Facilities Business Unit with Fire Code interpretation and compliance
o Establish and maintain centralized fire incident response processes
o Act as the main point of contact for the Fire Safety contract
- Emergency Management Planning
o Evaluate environmental risks that affect the company
o Establish risk communication processes with key members of the organization to ensure prompt and appropriate risk response
o Develop incident response plans designed to mitigate the impact and facilitate the recovery of the organization after an event.
o Participate in emergency response as the situation requires following the written response protocol
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Manage risk assessments of all NSLC facilities, technical reviews, develop briefing notes/position papers, and deliver presentations and proposals on emerging issues
- Partner with various business units to identify emerging trends or risks and provide advice or suggest solutions.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Security Operations on security infrastructure requirements.
- Manage security service providers to ensure compliance with expectations
- Manage all security trades and technicians through the design and execution phases of all development and maintenance projects
- Manage invoicing and budgets associated with maintenance, and projects
- Assist with the development of department operating budgets and ensure expenses are within allocated budgets.
- Travel and work on-call as required
As a qualified candidate you will have:
- 5 - 7 years related experience
- Experience in the management of a multi-location physical security program
- Experience contributing to and supporting fire safety programs
- Valid NS Driver's License with ability to produce a clear Driver's Abstract
- The ability to complete a Criminal Record check upon hire, or provide one issued within the past 6 months
As an ideal candidate you will have:
- Physical Security Professional (PSP) Designation or working towards
- Technical training and experience with the installation and maintenance of both networks and mechanical security infrastructure
- Training, certification and/or experience in various security systems and technology, such as video management, intrusion detection, fire and life safety, access control
- Experience in enterprise security risk assestment and response development
An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
