About Us:

East Cumberland Lodge is a 74-bed long-term care facility dedicated to enhancing the lives of our residents through compassionate care and engaging programming. Our mission is to create a vibrant community where residents thrive through meaningful activities, social connections, and personalized care.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a creative and energetic Leisure Activities Program Coordinator to join our team for the summer. This role focuses on planning, organizing, and delivering leisure activities that promote social engagement, physical well-being, and emotional enrichment for our residents. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community engagement, recreational planning, and enhancing the quality of life for seniors.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and implement leisure activities and social programs that encourage participation and engagement among residents.

Organize group events such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, movie nights, and themed celebrations.

Collaborate with residents to understand their interests and adapt activities accordingly.

Work alongside the Education Coordinator and Program Coordinator to create a holistic and well-rounded experience for residents.

Encourage resident involvement in event planning and activity selection.

Maintain attendance records and gather feedback to evaluate the success of activities.

Ensure that all activities are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with the interests and abilities of participants.

Assist in the setup and clean-up of event spaces to maintain a welcoming environment.

Qualifications:

Secondary or Post-secondary education in Recreation, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Experience in event planning, recreation programming, or community engagement is an asset.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate seniors.

Creative and resourceful approach to planning diverse activities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

We have acquired a license for a virtual reality system tailored specifically for the needs of the elderly with an array of programs, activities and content to engage our clients in experiences and activities that they could not access or enjoy otherwise.
