Purpose

Reporting to the SVP, Global Real Estate & Corporate Services, the Director, Strategic Initiatives ensures the success of the team by executing key goals and initiatives aligned with broader business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shape the long-term direction of the function through strategic planning and goal setting.
  • Promote strategic frameworks, tools, and governance routines to monitor and refine plans.
  • Enhance performance measurement and coordinate initiatives for maximum impact.
  • Drive transformational change and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Lead a team specializing in KYC/AML/Derivatives, ensuring compliance and building strategic relationships globally.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champion a client-centric culture to deepen relationships and leverage broader Bank systems.
  • Partner with leadership to design and refine strategic plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Define and evolve performance indicators and key metrics for strategic decision-making.
  • Develop strategic communications and executive presentations to convey leadership's vision.
  • Establish a centre of excellence to align initiatives, identify synergies, and drive optimization.
  • Apply research-driven insights to anticipate trends and guide strategic transformation.
  • Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders, providing holistic advisory support.
  • Ensure all activities align with Scotiabank's values, Code of Conduct, and compliance standards.
  • Consider the Bank's risk appetite and culture in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Pursue effective operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Communications, Strategy, or related fields preferred.
  • Working experience in Financial Services or Banking preferred.
  • Experience in strategy, communications, and chief of staff roles. Strong financial acumen preferred
  • Leadership in strategic planning, project execution, and organizational growth.
  • Analytical and innovative, skilled at synthesizing complex data and identifying trends.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and creating presentations for stakeholders
  • Highly organized and efficient, able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Spanish as an asset.

Work Arrangement: This position is currently a Hybrid role. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
