Job Description:

GPDS is a rapidly evolving and dynamic team and for highly motivated professionals looking to make an impact. We are looking for individuals who will help us shape the Future of Payments for TD and continue to build TD's presence and influence within the industry. We are responsible for the delivery of TD's Payment Modernization Program including regulatory, cybersecurity, payment products, SWIFT, and Correspondent Banking Services related projects for TD's global footprint. Our projects are designed to deliver the future of payments, including innovative business services, data models, and best in class technology infrastructures that support over $5 Trillion (and rapidly growing) worth of payments daily.

Position Overview:

Our team is seeking a Business Information Mgmt. Specialist to lead the Automation and Process Optimization team within the Global Payment and Deposit Solutions (GPDS) and Global Payment and Deposit Operations (GPDO). This role requires expertise in robotic process automation (RPA), process analysis, and solution development, as well as strong leadership, stakeholder management, and coaching capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of analysts/developers, defining automation strategies, ensuring governance, and collaborating with senior executives to drive automation initiatives aligned with business objectives. In addition, this role also involves analyzing data from various source systems to generate actionable insights, recommending operational and strategic opportunities, and effectively communicating findings to stakeholders. The candidate will help manage the data lifecycle, ensure compliance with data regulations, and implement data security and privacy processes. Additionally, the candidate will utilize visualization tools to present tailored business insights and educate partners on interpreting analytics to drive business growth. Regular communication with business partners is essential to define requirements and deliver data solutions.

Job / Role Responsibilities:

RPA Development & Process Automation:

  • Lead and manage a team of RPA developers and automation analysts, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Define and implement the RPA strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities and automation best practices.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of RPA solutions using tools such as UiPath, Microsoft Power Automate, or Blue Prism.
  • Drive innovation by identifying new automation opportunities, leveraging AI, machine learning, and data analytics to enhance process automation.
  • Establish and enforce automation governance, risk management, and compliance controls, ensuring adherence to security and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure integration of automation solutions with enterprise applications (databases, APIs) to optimize business workflows.
  • Provide oversight on Microsoft Access, VBA, and macros-based automation, ensuring effective database management and workflow automation.
  • Analyze business processes to identify automation opportunities and assess feasibility.
  • Design and develop end-to-end RPA workflows using tools using UiPath platform ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Utilize programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, VBA, SQL, .NET languages) to enhance automation capabilities.
  • Develop custom VBA macros and functions to automate manual tasks within Excel and Microsoft Access, improving data processing efficiency.
  • Work with Microsoft Access to build and maintain databases, automate queries, and integrate RPA solutions with existing data infrastructure.
  • Ensure smooth data transmission and integration between automation bots and various enterprise applications (e.g. databases, APIs).
  • Implement best practices for bot deployment, exception handling, and error resolution to ensure robust and reliable automation.
  • Optimize existing automations by monitoring bot performance, troubleshooting issues, and enhancing efficiency.
  • Work closely with business users and IT and governance teams to ensure seamless adoption and alignment with organizational goals.

Business Information Analysis & Management:

  • Analyze complex data sets and thrive in ambiguous situations to deliver actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Perform end-to-end data analysis, including mapping and data remediation, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Utilize data querying skills (e.g., SQL) to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from various sources.
  • Understand data transmission processes (e.g., MQ, Kafka) to ensure seamless data flow from source to destination.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data elements and databases, contributing to data governance and CDE identification.
  • Implement data automation strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
  • Work with Data Quality initiatives to monitor and improve data integrity.
  • Utilize visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Dremio, Databricks, Power BI, Cognos, Tableau) to present data insights clearly and effectively.
  • Employ Python scripts for automation tasks to streamline processes and improve productivity.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is a plus, enabling data solutions in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins for automation testing is also a plus, contributing to robust data pipeline management.

Agile & Way of Working:

  • Act as the primary liaison between the automation team and senior business leaders, translating technical solutions into clear business value.
  • Present automation roadmaps, performance metrics, and status reports to executives, ensuring transparency on project progress and impact.
  • Work closely with operations, IT, and compliance teams to ensure seamless automation adoption and scalability.
  • Influence executive decision-making by providing data-driven insights on cost savings, efficiency improvements, and risk reduction from automation initiatives. L
  • Facilitate automation governance committees, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide digital transformation strategies.
  • Apply Agile methodologies, Product Owner mindset, and iterative development practices for automation projects.
  • Use Jira, Confluence, and other collaboration tools to track project progress and document automation processes.
  • Stay current on emerging RPA trends, tools, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, actively seeking new opportunities to automate and optimize business processes.

C) Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Drive team engagement and professional growth by providing training opportunities in RPA tools, scripting (Python, VBA, SQL), and data analytics.
  • Implement Agile methodologies for automation development, ensuring iterative improvement and responsiveness to business needs.
  • Promote cross-functional knowledge sharing and encourage team members to explore new automation technologies.

Performance Management & Process Optimization:

  • Establish and track KPIs for automation success, such as time savings, accuracy improvements, and ROI on automation investments.
  • Conduct regular status reviews and automation impact assessments, ensuring ongoing optimization of automated processes.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Communication & Facilitation:

  • Convey complex automation concepts in a clear and compelling manner for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT security, compliance, and business units, to ensure automation solutions meet all regulatory and security requirements.

Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving:

  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to address automation challenges and improve workflows.
  • Develop innovative solutions to streamline processes and reduce manual effort.
  • Utilize data analysis skills to interpret trends, validate automation impact, and support business decision-making.
  • Identify risks and implement controls to mitigate automation failures and ensure compliance.

D) Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in automation, process improvement, or technology leadership.
  • 3+ years of people management experience, leading automation or technology teams.
  • Experience with RPA tools (UiPath, Power Automate, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, etc.) and knowledge of API integration, SQL, Python, VBA, or JavaScript is preferred.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Access, VBA, and macros, with the ability to build custom functions and automate workflows.
  • Certifications such as UiPath Certified RPA Developer, Microsoft Power Automate Certification, PMP, Agile Certified Practitioner, or Lean Six Sigma are preferred.
  • Strong understanding of automation governance, compliance, and security within a financial institution.

Payment & Deposits Product Domain Knowledge in the following areas is an asset:

  • Deep experience with payment data, canonical models, and payment data mapping.
  • Knowledge of SWIFT messages, ISO20022, MX and MT formats.
  • Understanding of payment systems and methods such as Canada Lynx, US CHIPS, and FedWire, etc.
  • Knowledge of non-wire payment methods like drafts and checks.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting such as EFTR Fintrac, sanction screening, fraud detection, anti-money laundering (AML), compliance reporting.
  • Understanding of deposit sub-ledger capabilities (like account management, transaction posting, multi-currency handling, interest calculations, liquidity management, controls, and reporting) to drive/ support deposits transformation, an asset.
  • Familiarity with various accounts (Nostro, Vostro, Corporate Customer), and integration of payments services with correspondent account processing, an asset.
  • Understanding of the interaction between payments and deposits operating models and how these serve client needs and use cases.
