Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:30 am - 4:00pm | 40 hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:
- Must have the physical capacity to carry out the functions of the trade, including the ability, on occasion, to lift heavy objects, work from ladders or in cramped quarters.
Salary: $31.31 per hour
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Plumbing Shop Foreperson, the Plumber supports the University by performing skilled plumbing work on maintenance and construction projects across campus. This position ensures the safe and efficient operation of water and waste systems in alignment with building codes, safety regulations, and institutional standards.
- Work independently or as part of a crew on maintenance and construction work orders and projects, in various conditions including outdoors, at heights, or in confined spaces
- Install, repair, and maintain domestic, commercial, and industrial plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment for water distribution and wastewater disposal
- Prepare job estimates for labour and materials when required
- Allocate and supervise tasks assigned to Trades Helpers and/or Labourers as needed
- Perform basic duties of other trades to support timely task completion
- Apply required safety precautions to minimize hazards to self and others
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the National Plumbing Code of Canada, National Building Code, Environmental Regulations, and the NB Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Care for and preserve assigned tools and equipment
- Perform other related duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING
- Formal education as required by the Province of New Brunswick to meet the Journeyman standard for the Plumbing trade. Possession of Journeyman certificate in the Plumbing trade as issued by the Province of New Brunswick is essential.
- A minimum of three (3) years of diversified experience at the Journeyman level in the Plumbing trade with a concentration on maintenance.
Additional Strengths
- The ability to read and interpret plans and specifications and to be able to work from sketches and diagrams.
- Proven ability to work with other trades people and the versatility in handling and using the tools of the trade.
