Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with The Inland Group of Companies to recruit an Engineering Specialist to join their growing Engineering team. This position can be based out of Truro, NS, Pittsburgh, PA, or Denver, CO.
Recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies for four consecutive years, the Inland Group of Companies is a multinational collective of premier aviation service providers offering deicing, environmental management, and ground handling solutions at over 50 airports across three countries. Through its distinguished business lines (Inland Technologies, Integrated Deicing Services, and Quantem Aviation Services), Inland is committed to excellence in safety, continuous improvement, innovation, and integrity.
Role Description:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Specialist will play a key role in the design, development, and documentation of Inland's specialized industrial equipment. This includes supporting the development of both mechanical sub-systems and associated PLC-based control systems used in distillation plants, glycol concentrators, glycol distribution systems, and pre-/post- treatment systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams through all project phases from concept and detailed design to manufacturing and site implementation.
This is a hands-on, hybrid role suited for a technically experienced and innovative engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment. You'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that contribute to Inland's operational excellence, all while supporting field operations with expert-level technical troubleshooting and documentation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing mechanical sub-systems and controls for industrial process equipment.
- Creating detailed technical documentation including design calculations, theory of operations, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
- Supporting projects throughout the product lifecycle, from initial concept through to field implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborating with engineering services, manufacturing, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Providing on-site and remote technical support as needed, including diagnosing issues and implementing improvements.
- Managing supporting documentation such as drawings, Bills of Materials, SOPs, and user guides.
- Promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
Your qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- 7+ years of engineering experience with a focus on mechanical, electrical, or chemical industrial systems.
- Strong background in designing mechanical equipment, with integrated PLC-based control systems a major asset.
- Experience with pumps, motors, heat exchangers, instrumentation, and troubleshooting industrial systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to development and testing.
- Proven communication skills with the ability to convey technical information across diverse teams.
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel (15-20%, occasionally up to 30% during peak periods).
- Valid driver's license and passport, with eligibility to access security clearance for secure airport areas.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time hybrid position (minimum 40 hours/week). The Engineering Specialist can anticipate approximately 15-20% travel, with occasional increases up to 30% during peak project periods.
While much of the work will be conducted in an office environment, this role includes hands-on involvement in commissioning, troubleshooting, and construction tasks. Applicants must be physically fit and capable of meeting fieldwork demands. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ability to work safely in high-risk environments is required.
Why Join Inland?
By joining the Inland Group of Companies, you'll become part of a dedicated, hands on, and innovative team working on impactful projects that drive sustainability and operational efficiency in the aviation sector. Inland offers a hybrid work model, opportunities for professional growth, and a collaborative culture focused on safety and integrity.
