Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with The Inland Group of Companies to recruit a Project Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This position can be based out of Truro, NS, Pittsburgh, PA, or Denver, CO.
Recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies for four consecutive years, the Inland Group of Companies is a multi-national collective of premier aviation services providers offering deicing, environmental management, and ground handling solutions at over 50 airports in three countries. Through their distinguished business lines (Inland Technologies, Integrated Deicing Services, and Quantem Aviation Services), our client is committed to being a leader in the aviation industry by focusing on safety, continuous improvement, innovation, and integrity.
Role Description:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer will be responsible for the full life cycle of key engineering projects from initial planning and scope definition, through to execution, implementation, and final evaluation. This is a critical role supporting Inland's ongoing efforts to develop and enhance industrial systems across operations, with projects often involving mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering components. You will coordinate resources, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure successful outcomes across multiple complex projects.
The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative and engineering team and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Inland's technology-driven operations. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to engage in hands-on project work that supports both operational excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage end-to-end project execution for engineering initiatives, including planning, scheduling, resourcing, budgeting, and reporting.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define project scopes, objectives, milestones, and deliverables.
- Prepare and maintain detailed work plans, project documentation, and reporting tools.
- Lead project teams and/or oversee subvendors, ensuring alignment with safety and organizational policies.
- Monitor progress and project performance, proactively identifying and addressing risks or delays.
- Liaise with and communicate status updates to management and internal stakeholders to ensure that deliverables meet specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
- Manage procurement and external vendor relationships to support project goals and cost efficiency.
- Promote a strong safety culture and environmental responsibility throughout project execution.
- Support a collaborative, respectful workplace culture by fostering teamwork and knowledge sharing.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering experience in industrial equipment and systems development.
- Demonstrated experience in managing moderately complex projects using formal project management principles.
- Proven ability to develop and manage work breakdown structures (WBS), identify critical paths, and track project milestones.
- Hands-on experience in design, construction, and commissioning phases of engineering projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; comfortable working under pressure and shifting priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and take ownership of new challenges.
Certifications & Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and passport, with eligibility to travel internationally.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance for access to restricted airport areas.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time hybrid position (minimum 40 hours/week). The Project Engineer can anticipate approximately 15-20% travel, with occasional increases up to 30% during peak project periods.
While much of the work will be conducted in an office environment, this role includes hands-on involvement in commissioning, troubleshooting, and construction tasks. Applicants must be physically fit and capable of meeting fieldwork demands. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ability to work safely in high-risk environments is required.
Why Join Inland?
By joining the Inland Group of Companies, you'll become part of a dedicated, hands on, and innovative team working on impactful projects that drive sustainability and operational efficiency in the aviation sector. Inland offers a hybrid work model, opportunities for professional growth, and a collaborative culture focused on safety and integrity.
