The Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation is a 71 bed, tertiary care referral hospital for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It has an active Pediatric Residency Program affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine; Memorial University of Newfoundland with most Pediatric subspecialties represented.

Job Summary:

The Children’s and Women’s Health Program at NL Health Services invites applications from those interested in either a part time or full-time Pediatrician position with the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Janeway Children’s Hospital. We also encourage those who may be interested in recurring shifts to apply.

As the Pediatrician-PICU, you may be a Specialist in Pediatrics with an interest in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. You will provide in-house midgrade coverage within the PICU at the Janeway and will be responsible to the Pediatric Intensivist on service/on call in the PICU and the Division Lead of Pediatric Critical Care and the Clinical Chief of Child Health.

The Pediatrician will work with other medical staff within the PICU to provide care to critically ill patients admitted to PICU under the care of the Pediatric Intensivist and to patients consulted to PICU by the Janeway emergency room, medical and surgical floors as well as the operating room (preoperative consults). The Pediatrician will also assist with assessing patients recently discharged from the PICU on the medical and surgical floors of the Janeway.

The Pediatrician will be the team leader for the Pediatric Code Blue Team which provides resuscitation for all Pediatric Code Blue calls within the Janeway and Health Sciences Center.

Required Qualifications
  • To be considered candidates must hold an MD
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) is required
  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure (full or provisional) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Applicants must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

Remuneration:

Salary for this position will be commensurate with the level of experience and to be paid in accordance with the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association

Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

Full time salaried:
