Job SummaryThe Social Worker provides professional Social Work services in the area of the Community Supports Program. The incumbent provides counselling, assessment, and referral services; manages caseloads and prepares and analyses reports. The Social Worker will also be expected to provide field instruction for Social Work students.
This position reports to the Program Manager for the Community Support Residential Team and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Social Work for professional integrity and practice issues.
The Residential Team includes caseloads that are comprised of clients availing of the following residential services: Alternate Family Care (AFC), Individualized Living Arrangements (ILAs), Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Eastern Residential Support Board (ERSB). The provision of these residential services may not be strictly located within the CBS area and may encompass all Zones within the Eastern Urban area.

Job Qualifications
Graduation with an accredited Bachelor of Social Work Degree is required.
Current and continuing registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers is required.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including but not limited to, Mental Health Care and Treatment Act, Adult Protection Act, Advanced Health Care Directives Act, Medical Assistance in Dying, and the Children, Youth and Families Act.
Knowledge of community resources, systems and programs.
Knowledge of crisis intervention and supportive counseling.
Knowledge of case management.
Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and mentor students.
Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment and interventions with individuals, families and groups.
Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to deliver/facilitate effective presentations.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
A Condition of employment includes a valid Class 5 Newfoundland Driver's License and the use of a personal vehicle.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
