This is where our skilled employees precision-engineer modules (sections) of homes to be delivered to the home site, where they are then fitted together and roofing, siding, drywall and flooring are installed.
The Shaw Group has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and strategic Financial Controller to join our team of talented individuals. Reporting to the General Manager of Prestige Homes, the Financial Controller provides financial and analytical support to management. The successful candidate will perform a variety of financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, building financial models, performing research and analysis, preparing reports, and development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures to support growth. As a key member of our Management Team, responsibilities include:
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with senior management
- Lead, support, and perform divisional month-end closing routines for corporate reporting with a mind of continuous improvement for shortening, simplifying, and automating the process.
- Oversee the preparation of year-end divisional reports and participation through the financial auditing process for follow-up requests.
- Continually analyze labour, materials, manufacturing overhead, and divisional overhead spending to look for areas of opportunities and efficiency
- Work with corporate services/functions to facilitate activities within the division in the areas of technology, procurement, and HR
- Provide management with accounting expertise and advice
- Other duties as required
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Undergraduate degree in related field (Business, Accounting etc.)
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
- Advanced skills in Excel, Microsoft Office, accounting systems and technology
- Experience with accounting systems (ie: SAP, Syspro, Quickbooks, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Proven organization and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects / tasks at once in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
- Solid Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to embrace and lead change within the organization
