Our Client, Workstrings International is currently seeking a Full-Time Shop Technician to join their team in Mount Pearl, NL (On-Site).

REPORTS TO: Shop Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Operations

SUPERVISES: N/A

LOCATION: Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, Canada

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: One (1)

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for working on Oilfield-related equipment in preparation for outgoing jobs and upon subsequent return for inspection, service and restock in inventory while keeping equipment organized and properly stored. This person will be required to be certified to operate a forklift and have rigging / slinging training. Eagerness to learn, ability to work overtime, and strong attention to detail are must-have qualities for this position.

PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Two or more years of related experience and/or training in an Oilfield related position would be considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to use and apply basic math skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Forklift and rigger / slinger training is required and can be provided.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements as defined by the company (sitting, sanding, climbing, walking, lifting (up to 75 pounds), pulling and/or pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping/crouching, crawling, color determination).
  • Prior experience in warehouse, production and/or oil and gas industry would be considered an asset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to identify and utilize basic hand tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and troubleshooting skills.
  • Accurately complete/maintain necessary reports/records in a timely and legible manner, in accordance with applicable procedures and/or work orders.
  • Ability to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as liaison between Operations and Project Coordinator.
  • Actively participate in daily safety meetings and behavior-based safety program.
  • Use forklift daily to move equipment & maintain accurate inventory.
  • Clean equipment using caustic vat.
  • Paint or otherwise protect rental equipment from the elements prior to shipping or placing in inventory.
  • Steel stamp or otherwise identify new equipment that enters the inventory.
  • Maintain shop operations and conditions including general appearance and organization.
  • Read and interpret specifications and procedures.
  • Know and understand Workstrings International's Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems/Procedures Manuals & complying with all HSE requirements.
