ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Western Zone is seeking 2 permanent full-time salaried Family Medicine Physicians to provide primary care services at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders, NL.

The successful candidates will provide clinic coverage at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre, Emergency Room coverage, and Outreach Clinic coverage from Monday to Friday, divided equally among the salaried Family Physicians at this site. After-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call assignments are shared on an equitable basis with the Family Physicians serving the community.

The regional referral centre for Western Zone is Western Memorial Regional Hospital, a 164-bed facility serving a population of approximately 80,000 people. NL Health Services is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, and academic interests are encouraged and supported.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
  • Eligible for licensure as a Family Physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services Western Zone including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
  • Experience working in an Emergency Room considered an asset

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide clinic coverage, Emergency Room coverage, and Outreach Clinic coverage Monday to Friday on an equitable basis with salaried Family Physicians at this site
  • Provide after-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call coverage on an equitable rotation
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of physicians and allied health professionals
  • Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

As per Memorandum of Agreement

Step assignment determined by the Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines, with yearly progression thereafter. Additional income is generated through billings for Category B Emergency Room coverage.
