The East Coast Base Manager plays an important role in ensuring that all flight operations for the St. John's, NL and Halifax, NS bases are reflected accurately as per the Airborne Maritime Surveillance Division Standard Operating Procedures. This position is also actively involved in the Divisional ISO 9001 program. Given the flexibility for this role, we are open on location to either our St. John's, NL base or our Halifax, NS base.

Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate with Flight Operations and Maintenance management to ensure operational requirements are executed efficiently.
  • Generate and maintain mission schedules and associated aircrew schedules.
  • Recommend specific coastal aircrew staffing requirements to the Director of Canadian Surveillance, in consultation with applicable Deputy Chief Pilot(s).
  • Communicate mission requirements to crews in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain daily operational schedule
  • Assist the Director of Canadian Surveillance with clients, Company and regulatory policies and requirements along with internal/external audits and recommending proactive improvements.
  • Track contractual KPIs to ensure requirements are met.
  • Ensure mission equipment tracking for serviceability, including parts movement for spares.
  • Liaise with the Sensor Operations Manager to the coordinate initial and recurrent training for Sensor Operators.
  • Develop Aerospace weekly report to senior leadership team.
  • Assist in the implementation of processes and practices (i.e. Standing Orders, SOPs, etc.)
  • Provide security briefings to PAL crews.
  • Maintain all defined safety standards.
  • Respond as required to identified issues as part of the Quality and SMS programs.
  • Ensure operational control system (OCS) is updated accurately for the base location
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in aviation is preferred, with 10+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building relationships with employees and external stakeholders and partners.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions under high pressure and tight deadlines.
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Excellent detail orientation, written and time management skills.
  • Robust prioritization and organizational skills with experience in handling document control processes.
  • Strong knowledge of operational processes and systems management.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
