Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:00 am - 4:00 pm | 36.25 hours per week (Summer Hours)

Salary Range: $57,614 - $74,900 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director, Teaching & Learning Services, the Educational Developer assists faculty in developing effective and engaging learning experiences, incorporating instructional technology and media as appropriate.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff in the design/redesign of classroom-based curricula and courses using instructional design theory and principles.
  • Coach faculty members and instructors in improving their teaching methods.
  • Incorporate learning technologies and media strategies where appropriate.
  • Organize, develop, facilitate, and promote professional development opportunities for faculty and instructors.
  • Create instructional resource materials to support faculty and instructors.
  • Research the scholarship of teaching and learning in higher education.
  • Research, advise, and adapt instructional methodologies and assessment strategies.
  • Write funding proposals and hire student workers or other temporary staff.
  • Other instructional design-related duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master's degree with a focus on instructional design, educational pedagogy, and the design of instructional materials.
  • 3 years of hands-on experience in course design, development, and support, as well as in designing and developing program curricula, preferably in a post-secondary environment.

Additional Strengths

  • Proficient at the organization and delivery of professional development workshops.
  • Experience in using D2L Brightspace, or other learning management systems is an asset.
  • Ability to play a leadership role as well as work constructively and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Proven time management, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills.
