Who are You?
You are an experienced health services manager with proven success in building teams and leading improvement initiatives. You are an effective communicator and have experience in conflict resolution and motivating others, respecting all aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion. You understand the importance of quality improvement including the use of technology in health care and are proficient in the use of various computer software systems. You understand key performance indicators and the auditing process in health care and can motivate your team to work together to ensure the highest quality of resident directed care. You are familiar with the Nova Scotia Long Term Care Standards, CIHI and have experience with licensing processes.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Neighbourhood Manager (NM) is accountable for the 24-hour organization, management, and leadership of designated neighbourhood(s) of up to 60 residents, including delivery of care, quality improvement and financial monitoring. The NM leads all initiatives to ensure that our residents receive person directed care in a home that prioritizes civility between residents, staff, families and volunteers. The NM provides leadership and direction to ensure all licensing standards are met and residents receive safe, competent and ethical care The NM helps to develop and evaluate policies and procedures, lead quality improvement projects, and facilitate education in response to learning needs of staff.
Qualifications:
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in a management position; preferably health care
- Long Term Care experience an asset
- Proficiency with computer use, particularly MS Office and Electronic Health Records
- Proven experience managing in unionized environments
- Skilled in policy development and utilizing evidenced-based practice
- Proven experience with quality improvement initiatives, including outcome measures, audits.
- Fiscal Management experience
- Knowledge and experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Indicators and Infection Control

Benefits: We offer a comprehensive compensation package including an attractive benefits plan, defined benefit pension and a competitive salary
Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly. The regular hours of work are intended to be from 0800-1600, Monday through Friday. Given the scope and responsibility of the role, there may be occasions where the NM may be required to stay beyond this time period. Rotational on-call availability is required.
