Position: Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) Administrative Coordinator
Job Type: Full-Time Contract (12-month maternity leave coverage)
Job Level: Entry-level
Location: Halifax (Hybrid)
Salary: Starting rate of $50,977 annually

The Opportunity

As the PSO Administrative Coordinator your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Sport Leadership

  • Seek out program and funding opportunities for PSOs.
  • Provide consultation to improve PSOs' organizational effectiveness
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and sport sector events on the PSO's behalf
  • Provide guidance for grants and approvals

Administration and Governance

  • Collection of membership information and payments, management of database, and communication with clubs regarding membership inquiries.
  • Maintain database of all registered coaches, officials, and volunteers
  • Update and maintain By-laws and policies\
  • Maintain and update Registry of Joint Stocks
  • Support the organization of Annual General Meetings, including arranging a venue and compiling and preparing a meeting package

Sport Sector Initiatives and Development

  • Collect and analyze sport development data
  • Engage and share information with partnering organizations and stakeholders
  • Participate as assigned in projects and prototypes with defined expected outcomes and timelines

Events and Communications

  • Support Tournament Organizing Committees (registration, venue, officials and volunteers, communications, results)
  • Support the organization of Team travel logistics
  • Support in acquiring event/PSO partnerships
  • Act as first point of contact and central hub for inquiries.
  • Maintain website and assist with updating social media sites
  • Develop media advisories and press releases to correspond with PSO events, major results, etc.

Who You Are

The qualifications and skills that would make you successful in this role include:

  • A post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Sport Administration, Sport Management, Recreation Management, or equivalent.
  • Experience coaching or administering sport.
  • Familiarity with the Nova Scotian and Canadian Sport Systems.
  • Comfortable navigating and managing social media accounts.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while contributing to initiatives, whether in a team environment or on an individual assignment.
  • Comfortable working with the Microsoft Suite (Teams, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with event facilitation and ability to collaborate with various groups, providing advice and feedback when required.
