The North Grove (www.thenorthgrove.ca) is a dynamic community hub, situated in the diverse community of Dartmouth North. We offer services, programs, and space for people to learn and connect through family support, food, and friendship. We also partner with more than 26 other organizations to help improve health, reduce social isolation and strengthen connections in this community.
The North Grove team is made up of 31 staff. We work with a dedicated Board of Directors, more than 170 community volunteers and more than 2,000 supporters which includes funding partners, corporate and individual donors. The Opportunity:
The Community Giving Manager is responsible for leading the development and implementation of community-based fundraising and engagement opportunities to support the organization's goals and strategic development. This includes managing The North Grove's annual campaigns, donor relations, overseeing corporate volunteer engagement, planning annual events, and collaborating with community partners. They will work to increase donor involvement, awareness, and contributions to ensure the organization's continued growth and community impact.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys strategic thinking, has strong interpersonal skills and leadership experience, has a work, educational or volunteer background in fund development and is exceptionally well organized. They have experience running annual campaigns and the ability to effectively build relationships with a variety of partners.
You are curious, creative and nimble, have excellent writing skills, and can't wait to find meaningful ways to connect with and recognize our partners.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends.
Reporting Structure: The Community Giving Manager will report to the Director of Development & Communications. The Partnership & Events Facilitator reports to this position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead The North Grove's annual giving campaigns, corporate giving and donor stewardship activities, with the support of the Partnership and Events Facilitator.
• Work in consultation with the Director of Development & Communications to determine grant application strategies and content and lead the preparation of applications and reports on an ongoing basis.
• Collaborate with Communications Specialist and program staff to tell compelling stories, report back to funders, thank supporters and more.
• Assist in the management of Major Gifts through effective tracking, participation in Growing the Grove (Major Gifts committee) and managing emerging major gift relationships.
• Lead the organization of events like our Farm Season Opener, Annual Report to Community, Giving Tuesday Coffee House and more.
• Track progress, analyze data, and report on the impact of community giving initiatives.
• Support ongoing engagement with corporate partners by leading volunteer opportunities.
• As a manager, act as a model of the policies and practices expected of all North Grove employees, providing leadership and support to the team, and taking on the Acting Director of Development and Communications role as needed.
North Grove Community Member:
• Participate in broader activities that support the organization: tours, videos, fundraising opportunities, posting program information, special events, internal committees, etc.

What You Will Bring:

• A minimum of 3 years' experience in fund development
• Experience supervising staff and/or leading teams
• A post-secondary diploma/certificate/degree in a related field or comparable experience
• High degree of skill and comfort with technology, including interest/experience with databases
• Experience working in an environment that demands a high level of detail and excellent organizational skills
• Event planning experience, in an employment or volunteer capacity
• Outgoing personality that thrives on hosting and connecting with people
• Experience working with diverse and vulnerable groups
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team environment
• A sense of fun and a commitment to kindness and empathy

What We Offer:
Staff wellbeing is prioritized, and we provide training opportunities, employer-paid medical/dental benefits from day one, 4% employer-paid RRSP contribution after probation, 4 weeks of paid vacation, all statutory holidays, paid sick time and 4 personal days. A computer is provided as well as a telephone stipend. This position is based in Dartmouth, however there is the opportunity to work up to two days per week from home.
Salary Range: $53,560 to $74,160 annually
The Selection Process - What to Expect:
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online interview to go over the basics of the position, get a high-level understanding of your experience and answer any questions you may have.
