Creating a Sense of Home: We are home to 108 residents. At Windsor Elms Village there are three distinct neighbourhoods. Each neighbourhood has four houses of nine residents. With such a diverse group of residents, you will find each house has its own character. At WEV, we strive to create flexibility that mirrors life in the communities and homes our residents have known.


Musical Therapist We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate and credentialed Musica Therapist to join our interdisciplinary care team in a long-term care setting that serves approximately 108 residents. The Musical Therapist will use the power of music to support residents 'emotional , social , cognitive, and physical well-being, with a focus on person- centered care.You will work closely with residents living with dementia ,physical and cognitive disabilities, and other complex needs, delivering both group and individual sessions that promote engagement, connection and quality of life.


Summary of Roles & Responsibilities (Full Job Description available upon request)
• Plan, implement, evaluate individualized and group music therapy programs based on residents, needs, preferences, and goals
• Maintain an active caseload providing, assessments, treatment plans, documentation , education and program evaluations
• Participate in Resident Reviews and approved research, provide formal and informal consultation to other care partners and supervise and evaluate the work activities of music therapy practicum students and interns
• Collaborate with the Manager of Life Enrichment regarding operational issues as related to the provision of Music Therapy
• Collaborate with all members of the care team to support holistic care
• Support Care Partner and Family education about therapeutic benefits of music in aging
• Advocate for inclusive, culturally sensitive programming and practices
• Maintain music equipment, instruments, and materials in good working condition
• Adhere to the CAMP Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and engage in Continuing Education Opportunities to maintain credentials.
• Adhere to all safety confidentiality and infection control policies and standards.

Requirements / Qualifications:
• Bachelor or Master's degree in music therapy from an accredited CAMT-recognized education institution
• Completion of a 1000-hour clinical internship under the supervision of a CAMT-Approved MTA supervisor
• Completion of the certification exam of the Certification Board for Music Therapists
• Uphold membership in good standing with the Canadian Association for Music Therapy
• Minimum 1 years of experience working with older adults, preferably in ling-term care, palliative care or dementia care settings
• Empathetic, patient, and adaptable approach to care
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Up to date Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector required

  • The Windsor Elms is an active participating employer with Nova Scotia Employees' Pension Plan(NSHEPP). If you are a member of NSHEPP, your pension is portable to Windsor Elms Village.

Hours: Hours are to be arranged with the Manager of Life Enrichment and Music Therapist. The hours of work for this position in the past have been 8:30am to 4:30 on weekdays, Flexibility may be required outside of these hours.
