Job SummaryThe Manager of Biomedical Engineering provides leadership and direction for a team of Biomedical Equipment Support Technologists. The Manager of Biomedical Engineering reports directly to the Regional Operations Manager for Infrastructure Support, Eastern Rural Zone and provides support and guidance to all divisions in the rural zone and Provincial stakeholders both inside and outside organizations.
The Manager of Biomedical Engineering is responsible for a team that supports and enhances the work of health care professionals by overseeing the maintenance, evaluation, technical support and training for all medical and scientific instrumentation/biomedical equipment. This position is responsible for the departmental budget and is directly responsible for resource planning and developing strategic direction for the overall operation of the department. They are also responsible for planning and directing the Biomedical Equipment Support department by leading and supervising the daily workflow of the department. The Regional Manager has responsibility for the project planning and installation of both clinical equipment technology and Infrastructure Support initiatives. This also includes participating in technology assessments and developing strategic technology replacement plans. The candidate is a problem solver, visionary, creative thinker and is technically skilled in maintaining and enhancing complex integrated systems in a very challenging environment.
Job Qualifications
Education
Diploma in 3-year Engineering Technology program is required.
A Bachelor's Degree in Technology or equivalent is required.
Project Management Professional (PMP) would be an asset.
Combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience within the last seven (7) years in healthcare environment is required.
A combination of leadership or management experience within a technical healthcare environment.
Experience in project management of medical equipment and infrastructure implementations in any of the following areas: Radiology, Dialysis, Respiratory, Laboratory, Cardiac Critical Care, Perioperative, Children and Women's Health and Emergency Room.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Demonstrated knowledge of NL Health Services' business operations including capital equipment planning, procurement and tender development.
Demonstrated knowledge of current technology and industry best practice is required.
Demonstrated strong decision making, interpersonal, leadership and communications skills.
Demonstrated financial stewardship.
Ability to manage change and continuous improvement.
Other
Travel throughout the region will be required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
