CBCL is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Scientist or Biologist to join our dedicated team of environmental professionals, where your skills and passion will help lead the continued growth of our Environmental Sciences practice in New Brunswick. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone who is passionate about environmental projects, looking to advance their career, and collaborate with senior leaders across the company to help shape our future work in the region.

CBCL's Environmental Team is delivering impactful work across New Brunswick, and we are positioned for further expansion. We're looking for a forward-thinking professional with a background in natural sciences, environmental impact assessment, and regulatory permitting, who can bring both technical expertise and strategic insight to support and grow our environmental services.

The successful candidate may be based out of any of our New Brunswick offices, located in Moncton, Fredericton, or Saint John.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior leaders at CBCL to develop and execute growth strategies for our Environmental group in New Brunswick;
  • Lead and contribute to EIAs, permitting applications and approvals for a variety of infrastructure and development projects across New Brunswick and beyond;
  • Oversee and support a wide range of natural sciences services such as wetlands, watercourses, species at risk (SAR) and habitat assessments;
  • Lead the development of proposals, including preparation of project scopes, schedules, and budgets;
  • Build and support strong client relationships and other business development initiatives;
  • Coordinate and lead field programs with support from a multi-disciplinary environmental team;
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and analyze environmental data, ensuring quality standards on project deliverables;
  • Engage with regulators, stakeholders, and Indigenous groups as part of the project design and permitting process;
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams across departments and geographic locations to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and design; and
  • Mentor junior staff and help shape a positive, growth-oriented team culture.

Your Credentials and Capabilities:

  • A university degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Management, or a related field (equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered);
  • Minimum of eight years' experience in environmental consulting or relevant environmental industry;
  • Demonstrated experience in Environmental Impact Assessment and regulatory permitting at the provincial and/or federal level;
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and policies applicable in Atlantic Canada;
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills;
  • Experience in a related technical discipline, such as terrestrial ecology, aquatic biology, wildlife biology or vegetation ecology, is an asset;
  • A collaborative, team-first attitude, with the ability to work independently when needed; and
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Atlantic Canada and/or Ontario.
