The Opportunity

Working under the general supervision of the Operations Supervisor, this position is responsible for supporting the municipality's mandate of ensuring public safety by working alongside a crew to construct, install, maintain, and repair municipal infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

· Snow removal during winter operations.

· Clearing storm drains.

· Installing culverts.

· Maintaining ditches.

· Road paving and asphalt patching.

· Installation/ maintenance street signs.

· Line painting.

· Traffic control.

· Encourages and supports good teamwork and team communications.

· Follow all safety protocols as identified in the town's safety manual, including reporting any safety concerns to management.

· Attend work on a scheduled and regular basis.

· Other labourer - type duties.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, the successful incumbent must:

· Possess a valid New Brunswick Class 3 driver's license accompanied with a clean driver's abstract;

· Have a clear safety record;

· Understand the critical customer service role of municipal employees;

· Ability to attend work on a regular basis; and

· Ability to work independently; be innovative, resourceful and accountable.

Working Conditions:

This is an outside, heavy labour job that is physically taxing and subject to shift work and overtime. The successful application must have the ability to lift and work with at least fifty (50) pounds of weight.
