We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate License Practical Nurse who will work in collaboration with the Health Team under the direct supervision of the Home and Community Coordinator to provide services under the Home and Community Care program to Bilijk Community members.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients, ensuring all professional health care provided for Bilijk and its members is kept confidential.
  • Act under guidance of the Home and Community Care Coordinator and Health Director.
  • Received assignments from the Home and Community Care Coordinator with appropriate data in relation to authorized nursing care, demonstrating an understanding of the assignment and seeks additional data, if necessary, from the Home and Community Care Coordinator.
  • Explain nursing tasks to the client and perform the skill required to meet the assigned task in a safe and professional manner.
  • Observe any changes in the clients' functioning or changes in their environment that may affect the clients' health and /or safety. Report any concerns to the Home and Community Care Coordinator.
  • Always demonstrates dignity and respect for all clients and family in all aspects of client care.
  • Support and advise individuals, families, groups and community with respect to health, healing, healthy lifestyles and maintenance of a healthy environment.
  • Collaborate with Home and Community Care Coordinator and other health professionals and provide appropriate care regarding client needs working in conjunction to promote a positive working environment and maintenance of appropriate standards of care.
  • Report concerns in performance of tasks to Home and Community Care Coordinator and utilize supervision to clarify.
  • Complete required charting of clients care and nursing procedures performed.
  • Complete and submit accurate time sheets and required reports to the Home and Community Care Coordinator

Requirements:

  • Hold a valid License with the LPN Association of New Brunswick
  • Knowledge of computer software applications such as Word, Excel, MS Suite, & Internet
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Use of personal judgment
  • Strong work ethic
  • Communications, whether verbal, visual, or written, whether for internal or external use, is required to be professional in tone
  • Must be a team player as well as comfortable working independently
  • Must be willing to go into Client's homes
  • Maintaining confidentiality is an essential requirement
  • Experience working with elderly population and those with chronic illness
  • Provide a current Criminal Record and a Vulnerable Sector (VS) check
  • Possess a Level 1 First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Knowledge and respect for Bilijk's culture, traditions and practices, considered an asset
  • Bilijk First Nation heritage preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing to occasionally work after hours to assist program staff with health promotion activities if required
  • Cover Home and Community Care Coordinator when away for conferences, vacation and/or sick leave
  • Know weekly day to day business regarding clients and community
