ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Western Zone is seeking two (2) permanent full-time salaried Anatomic Pathologists at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL.

Western Memorial Regional Hospital is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art acute care facility that opened in June 2024. The hospital serves as a 164-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland, delivering a broad range of secondary and select tertiary services to a population of approximately 80,000 residents.

The successful candidates will participate in anatomic pathology, cytopathology, and autopsy services within the Pathology Discipline at WMRH.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Anatomic Pathology (or equivalent) or American Board of Pathology AP/CP certification
  • Eligible for licensure as a Pathologist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
  • Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services Western Zone's Pathology Discipline including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Other combinations of experience, training, and personal attributes may be considered

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive anatomic pathology services including surgical pathology and cytopathology
  • Perform autopsy services as required
  • Deliver consultations and collaborate with referring physicians and clinical teams
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary Pathology team
  • Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

As per Memorandum of Agreement

The Specialist Salary Scale ranges from CAD 263,672 – CAD 285,596 as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). Step assignment determined by the Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines, with yearly progression thereafter.
