We are currently looking for a Production Supervisor to become an integral part of our team reporting to the Director of Operations at our Belledune location. The successful candidate will hold Safety as the number one priority and be a natural and leader who can motivate the team to safely reach production targets. They will be able to quickly build trust and credibility with the team and have a "can-do" attitude who understands the importance of operational excellence. The Shaw Group has a strong safety culture, and this individual will embody the same safety mindset and lead by example. The Production Supervisor will be able to balance the demands of getting results with the importance of producing a quality product. This position requires an active supervisor in a plant environment with responsibilities including:
- The day-to-day production and operation in their area
- Creating and maintaining a safe workplace for all employees
- "Managing Daily Performance" of the designated areas/personnel using the prescribed tools/reporting
- Scheduling of employees and timecard approvals
- Ability to direct work and collaborate with both unionized and non-unionized employees
- Assessing preventive and reactive maintenance requirements and allocating resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime
- Regularly reporting production
- Continuously striving to reduce expenses and increase productivity in all operations
- Effectively communicating with production and maintenance staff, peers, and senior managers
- Providing motivation, support, and guidance to production and maintenance employees
- Assist in the training and development of production staff
- Establishing workflows and standard operating procedures that improve efficiency, safety, or quality
The ideal candidate will have the following qualification, knowledge, and skills:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- University or post-secondary degree preferred
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- Team oriented
- Customer focus and understanding the importance of internal and external customer service
- Experience working in a strong safety culture
- Solution-oriented
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions quickly and effectively.
- Project management skills considered an asset
- Excellent communicator
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with production management software.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to operate heavy equipment an asset
- Previous experience with 5S or lean manufacturing principles and asset
