Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS) - Western Zone is seeking the services of part-time or full-time salaried Palliative Care Physicians located in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. There are also ongoing locum opportunities available. These positions will increase the physician complement from 2.0 FTE to 4.0 FTE positions covering Palliative Care services for the western region of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Service provision includes a Palliative Care Unit; an outpatient and inpatient consultation service; support for the Chemotherapy Unit, specialty clinics, paramedicine and a home End of Life Program; and support and outreach for health care professionals throughout the region. The position includes clinical and administrative duties, including program and policy development and regional education. The successful physician must work in a team-based, patient-focused environment, and partner with all team members and allied health professionals.

This position is also based out of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook. The hospital is a regional referral center for Western Newfoundland and provides services to a population base of approximately 78,000 people. Affiliated with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Medical School, the position includes mentoring medical learners.

Required Qualifications: Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL), CCFP or FRCP certified, and satisfy Western Health's credentialing requirements.

Preferred qualifications:
Fellowship in Palliative Medicine and/or Board Certification with the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and/or a Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Care. Prior experience with a PC specialty service would be an asset.

Hours of Work: 40 hours weekly plus 1 in 4 on-call obligations

Remuneration: Available on request, as per the MOA
