Job Description: Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team under the direct supervision of the Director of Care to meet residents' care needs.
Education Required:
- Graduate of a University Physiotherapy Program
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (NSCP)
- Police check and Vulnerable Sector Screening Request in the last 3 months is required
Competencies:
- Effective communication both written and verbal in English with residents, families and co-workers
- Strong moral and ethics along with a commitment to Privacy and Confidentiality in all aspects of the organization
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
- Problem identification and problem resolution skills
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
- Reliable with good attendance and cheerful disposition
- Maintenance of a clean and sanitary environment
- Possesses exemplary Customer Service skills
- Respectful and hardworking team player
Responsibilities:
- Carry out assessments and suitable treatments and exercises designed to increase mobility of residents
- Assess residents for safe movement
- Maintain progress notes and chart on resident's progress
- Instruct and guide PTA
- Communicate resident's progress with other members of care team
- Assist the OT in assessing and prescribing of assistive or adaptive equipment
- Maintain open communication with residents, family members, and staff
- Participate in various committees, including but not limited to, OH&S, Lift and Transfers and Falls Prevention
- Provide staff training on proper body mechanics and safe use of equipment
- An active interest in continuing education
