DUTIES

The Compensation and Benefits Manager is responsible for the effective planning, management, and administration of the University's group insurance program for all employees and retirees, as well as overseeing compensation structures for Memorial's staff groups. Specific duties include developing and maintaining a strategic compensation approach that supports recruitment and retention; developing a proactive compensation plan involving the broad analysis of existing and future compensation issues; reviewing and interpreting local, regional, and national compensation data; supporting and advising HR professionals and University departments on application of the compensation policy and compensation related information in non-faculty collective agreements; managing all compensation structures including market differentials, upscale hiring steps, and supervisory differentials; resolving and approving escalated compensation issues; supporting collective bargaining compensation analysis; managing the University's group insurance plans; participating in the University Benefits Committee and providing advice to committee members; reviewing and maintaining benefit program contracts and insurance policies; completing benchmarking reviews of benefit programs; developing and preparing communication for annual renewals and benefit changes; providing oversight of service delivery for compensation and benefit programs in HR; preparing annual renewal for group insurance carriers; administering the employee assistance program; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Progressive leadership experience (5-8 years) in compensation and benefit administration, policy development, and administration in large and complex unionized organizations; completion of a Master's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. A well-developed ability to make decisions based on analysis and synthesis of statistical data, to meet the University's strategic goals, is required. The incumbent will have strong interpersonal, facilitation, leadership, organizational, and communication skills; along with the ability to balance competing interests, manage multiple tasks, and positively engage the University community.

SALARY $80,801 - $103,465 per annum (Management and Professional)
