Job Opportunity: Investment Attraction Executive - Life Sciences (Permanent)

Invest Nova Scotia is hiring an Investment Attraction Executive-Life Sciences (herein, IAE-LS) to join our Investment Attraction team. As an IAE-LS, you will be responsible for building and developing business relationships with international companies. You will identify and qualify sound opportunities and build solid long-term relationships with management and executives. You will research, develop, and present opportunities and facilitate end-to-end 'sales' relationships with all stakeholders. You must possess (or can obtain) a valid Canadian passport with no travel restrictions as international travel will be required.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

Present the Nova Scotia value proposition to prospective clients looking to invest in and grow the Nova Scotia economy. This includes promoting, negotiating, and structuring the provision of incentives to secure investment in Nova Scotia. The objective of negotiations is to maximize benefits in terms of payroll, increased tax revenues, job creation, CAPEX, and increased export sales for Nova Scotia.

Research, develop, and present a strategic sector plan to drive investment opportunities in the life sciences sector as well as foster end-to-end business relationships with a variety of stakeholders from government, industry, and academia.

Other responsibilities include:

• Develop sophisticated proposals and responses to Requests for Information (RFI's) while effectively positioning Nova Scotia against competing jurisdictions.
• Develop lead generation strategies.
• Effectively manage a sales pipeline.
• Conduct due diligence on potential investments.

Education/ Professional Experience:

As a successful candidate, you ideally hold a master's degree in science majoring in pharmacology, chemistry, or biology and possess complimentary sales experience and a good track record in complex business development. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Key Competencies:

• Advanced knowledge of the life sciences sectors and medical technology industry.
• Strong project management skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Experience with formal solution sales methodologies and experience using Salesforce or other CRM.
• An established network within the life sciences and medical technology communities nationally and internationally.
• Strong business development and/or senior sales experience dealing with people at all levels of the organization including C-level executives.
• A high degree of maturity, professionalism, and confidence to build important working relationships and fully understand the needs of clients while uncovering opportunities for the Province of Nova Scotia.
