We are looking for a Software Architect to join the CarteNav team in Halifax, NS.

The Position:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Web Application Architect to join our dynamic team. The Web Application Architect will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications. This individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our web applications meet business requirements while adhering to best practices and architectural standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Design: Lead the architectural design of web applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Technology Selection: Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools for web application development. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our technology stack.
  • System Integration: Design and implement integrations between web applications and other systems, including databases, third-party services, and internal APIs. Ensure seamless communication and data exchange between different components of the system.
  • Scalability and Performance: Design scalable and high-performance web application architectures to support growing user bases and increasing data volumes. Conduct performance analysis and optimization to enhance application speed and efficiency.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices to protect web applications against security threats and vulnerabilities. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR and PCI DSS.
  • Code Review and Guidance: Review code written by development teams to ensure adherence to architectural principles, coding standards, and best practices. Provide guidance and mentorship to developers on architectural design and coding techniques.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design documents, and guidelines. Ensure that documentation is comprehensive, up-to-date, and easily accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including software developers, QC engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders. Communicate technical concepts and decisions clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) as a Web Application Architect or a similar role, with a track record of successfully designing and implementing complex web applications.
  • Proficiency in web application development technologies, including but not limited to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and popular frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.js.
  • Strong understanding of web application architecture patterns, such as MVC, MVVM, and microservices.
  • Experience with server-side technologies and frameworks, such as Java 16+ & Spring Boot 2.0+.
  • Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, caching mechanisms, and message queues.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, and experience with deploying and managing web applications in a cloud environment.
  • Kubernetes experience, Cloud (such as AWS) or on-premise ( such as microk8s).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design elegant solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Architecture certification such as TOGAF would be an asset.
