EY is looking for professionals with a transformative mindset to join our fast-growing International Tax team as a Manager or Senior Manager. This role will give you the opportunity to work on the firm's largest multi-country client engagements, focusing on Pillar Two. It is an exciting time for tax professionals as the tax landscape continues to change, most recently with the introduction of the Global Minimum Tax Act i.e., the introduction of Pillar Two rules in Canada, expected to have a significant impact on Canadian multinational groups and foreign groups investing into Canada.

Overview:

As part of the International Tax Team, focusing on Pillar Two, the Manager or Senior Manager will be at the forefront of understanding the impact of these changes on our clients and their business. Working with a diverse, multi disciplinary, cross- service line team you will help lead technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders on BEPS Pillar Two areas of focus, particularly:

  • Advising Canadian and foreign companies on GMTA - Pillar Two implications of their global structure
  • Preparing impact assessment models and gap-?t analysis based on the client ERP, tax accounting and reporting systems
  • Identifying opportunities for providing tax planning and other specialty services
  • Providing technical support of BEPS Pillar Two provisions based on the client tax accounting reporting process at the Group level
  • Delivering compliance and reporting solutions and engaging in business development activities

Your key responsibilities:

  • Managing account resourcing, budget and delivery
  • Enhancing technical skills by remaining up to date on trends, new legislative developments and tax authority decisions, and applying them to complex situations relevant to the client
  • Leading pursuits on BEPS Pillar Two
  • Building and managing client accounts and relationships
  • Setting and delivering the strategy for client engagements
  • Developing onshore and offshore teams for BEPS Pillar Two delivery
  • Identifying opportunities on new and existing clients
  • Connecting our clients to EY subject matter specialists
  • Maintaining quality standards
  • Demonstrating professionalism through a positive and cooperative approach and by maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of client relationships and related work products
  • Developing and coaching a team


Skills and attributes for success

  • Experience with BEPS Pillar Two – OECD GloBE Framework
  • International corporate income tax experience, ideally from a Canadian tax perspective but other country experience is also valuable
  • Strong analytical abilities, a process-oriented nature and excellent documentation skills
  • Good understanding of IFRS and or US GAAP tax accounting provisions
  • A track record of managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to distil complex concepts into concise communications
  • A commitment to learning in a tax technology environment
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines along with strong project management and organizational skills
  • A collaborative, proactive approach to work, a high level of drive, motivation, and commitment
  • Experience working with multi-country teams and coaching and developing junior staff
  • Superior problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to manage budgets and time to deliver a quality output


To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 7 or more years experience in international corporate tax
  • A relevant post-secondary degree plus a professional credential such as CPA, CPA In-depth, LLB or LLM
  • Experience with GMTA - Pillar Two or a strong interest in specializing in this area
  • A strong understanding of tax accounting concepts
  • The ability to be agile and respond to the changing client environment while continuing to provide quality deliverables under tight timelines
  • Experience providing tax services to a portfolio of clients
  • A proactive nature and ability to identify opportunities for business development
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, including the ability to develop and coach team members

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Effective project management skills including the ability to plan and prioritize work, meet deadlines, and monitor engagement budgets
  • An understanding of and interest in tax policy developments
  • Both English and French language skills. French language skills are an asset, not a requirement. English language skills are a requirement as this role will engage with clients across Canada.
