Overview
St. Francis Xavier University is a top-ranking Canadian university located in Antigonish NS. We are currently seeking a carpenter work within the University. Salary and benefits is in accordance with the UNIFOR Collective Agreement.
Key Responsibilities
- Structural repair, renovation and maintenance of building exteriors and interiors
- Team with other technicians to maintain superior physical appearance of the campus
- Establish professional, and courteous relationships with all customers
- Be able to perform regular physical repairs and maintenance
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
Qualifications
- High School Grade 12 or equivalent
- Certified Carpentry Journeyman (preferred) or Apprentice considered
- Various roofing, siding, window and door installation and repair
- Experience in masonry and repair is an asset
- Ability to perform semi-skilled work in areas other than those covered under own certificate of qualification;
- Use and maintenance of hand and power tools and equipment
- Comprehend blueprints and technical instructions
- Knowledge of regulatory codes and requirements and be safety certified;
- Apply formulas and conversion tables to job requirements
- Ability to perform basic computer data input
